Background

The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) has been the national forum and voice of the electricity business in Canada for over a century. Since it’s inception in 1891, CEA has striven to keep one step ahead of the issues that affect our industry. In 1974 CEA initiated its R&D; Program to serve the research needs of Canadian electric utilities. And in 1996, CEA opened its doors to collaborative technology development and international participation. This evolution was the impetus for CEA Technologies (CEATI).

With 27 years of experience in technology development, CEATI continues to grow, capitalizing on working relationships with a global network of technology providers and expert groups. Over the last 5 years, CEATI has grown steadily, to serve Participants through 12 Focused Interest Groups and 2 special groups each facilitated by a technical expert devoted to that field of study. Nearly 50% of CEATI participants are represented by American, European, Australian, and Japanese utilities. This diversity contributes to the strength of CEATI programs and brings value directly to participants, who are integral to the success of this user-driven program.
